Rekha is a feminist practitioner and a Management Committee Champion at Feminist Approach to Technology (FAT), a non-profit organisation working with girls and young women to build leadership, challenge gender inequality, and claim their space in STEM and technology.
Rekha holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from IGNOU. Her journey with FAT began in 2012 as a participant, and she later joined the organisation as an intern in 2014–15. Since then, she has been part of FAT’s efforts to create spaces where girls and young women can question social norms, express themselves, and take collective action.
As a young participant, Rekha used creative tools such as street theatre, slogans, songs, films, radio shows and photo stories to engage families and communities in conversations around issues affecting girls’ lives. In 2015, she was part of FAT’s #TodoBandishen campaign, which created dialogue with families and communities around early and forced marriage and the restrictions placed on girls. These experiences shaped Rekha’s understanding of the power of collective action and strengthened her belief that girls and young women should be able to make decisions about their own lives.
Today, Rekha serves as a Management Committee Champion at FAT, contributing to the organisation’s leadership and collective vision. Her journey—from being a young participant to becoming part of FAT’s leadership—is a reflection of the possibilities that emerge when girls and young women are given the space, trust and resources to lead.
